1987 Lamborghini Jalpa

1987 Lamborghini Jalpa

One of the more forgotten Lamborghini’s of the 80’s is the Jalpa. The Jalpa was considered an ‘entry-level’ sports car and was produced by Lamborghini from 1981-1988 and just 410 total units were built for the entire world. Surprisingly, even though it’s a low-production Lamborghini, Japlas have not yet took off in terms of market value. Compared to the Countach of the time, the Jalpa was considerably less expensive and most definitely still is in today’s market. Both the Jalpa, and the legendary Countach were designed by Bertone, however, the Jalpa offered much greater visibility (you literally had to lean out of the Countach just to reverse), and the car was much more useable in situations like sitting around in traffic in comparison to the Countach. The name Jalpa Kandachia came from a famous breed of fighting bulls, which of course Lamborghini followed up with by naming most of their models after famous fighting bulls, such as the Gallardo and other models. The Jalpa was considered to be one of the company’s most popular models at the time, and just having sold 410 units, it just goes to show really how small Lamborghini was as a company at the time. This particular example is a 1987 Lamborghini Jalpa, chassis number 371, and its finished in a beautiful black exterior over a black leather interior. Truly one of the most underrated lambos of all time!
