This is the extremely rare, 1 of only 301 produced for the entire world, 1989 Lamborghini LM002 SUV, chassis number ZA9LU45A3KLA12129. Before Lamborghini debuted the Urus model in December of 2017 at Lamborghini's Sant'Agata Bolognese headquarters, this car was actually the first “Lamborghini truck”. Produced from 1986-1992, the LM002 was a rather unusual model considering Lamborghini’s focus at the time was mainly high-performance, hand-built, sports cars. Interestingly, the LM002 was not the first of Lamborghini’s off-road utility trucks, in fact it was part of a series of them called the ‘Lamborghini Militaria’. At first, Lamborghini’s original attempt was to enter into the military light utility truck market. Starting in 1977 with the one-off Lamborghini Cheetah, an off-road prototype with a waterproofed 5.9L Chrysler engine, and a fiberglass body with room for only four fully-equipped soldiers. Now of course that didn’t work out and in the end, the military contract was awarded to AM General and their well-known Humvee. Lamborghini shifted focus to the luxury utility market. A one-off prototype called the LM001 debuted at the 1981 Geneva Auto Show alongside at the time, the all-new Jalpa. After discovering this design had unfavorable handling due to poor engine placement. Lamborghini recognized their issue and decided to redesign the entire chassis now using a front-engine design, calling it the Lamborghini LMA002. This was officially the first time the V12 engine from the Countach was ever used in an offroad vehicle. After multiple changes were made, finally this car, the production model LM002 was unveiled at the 1986 Brussels Auto Show. Nicknamed the “Rambo Lambo”. A few one-off and few-off vehicles succeeded the LM002 including the LM003, LM004, LM005, and a one-off “estate” version of the Sultan of Brunei.
