1998 Lamborghini-Heuliez Pregunta

1998 Lamborghini-Heuliez Pregunta

This is the one-of-a-kind 1998 Lamborghini-Heuliez Pregunta (s/n KLA12005) finished in ‘Stealth Dassault Jet fighter’ paint over a blue interior. The Pregunta project was a collaboration between Lamborghini, and Carrozzeria Studio Heuliez-Torino in Italy, which was headed by ex-Bertone Director Marc Deschamps. In June of 1998, agreement was made between the Lamborghini factory and Heuliez-Torino, where Lamborghini would provide a Diablo development car in order to have a one-off model created from it. A factory European-market Diablo VT development car was used as the basis for the Pregunta project, and one of Lamborghini’s only requests at the time was that this new unique prototype would be "new, original and impossible to confuse with any other”. In order to achieve this, a number of unique elements were added to the Pregunta in order to make it a wonderfully unique machine. This includes the easily removable two "half-roofs" which are made of see-through polycarbonate, a rear-view camera in replace of the mirrors, a jet-derived cockpit, and much more. Lamborghini and Heuliez-Torino truly questioned the limits when building and designing the Pregunta, which actually happens to stand for ‘Question’ in Spanish. The car demonstrates numerous advanced technologies and elements such as ‘Dassault stealth’ external paintwork (from the Dassault Rafale jet), anti-G aircraft seats, and many other aerospace-inspired features. Also inside the aircraft-themed cockpit of the Pregunta is fully electronic F-1 type Magnetti Marelli dashboard instrumentation. Notably, the Pregunta project was said to have costed around $800,000 to complete, and considering the car was developed in 1999 with absolutely no plans for production, that’s certainly a considerable amount of money for a one-off project. The Pregunta today is now certified by the Lamborghini Factory Polo Storico, and is simply one of the most interesting projects to ever be associated with the brand.
