This is the one-of-a-kind 2006 Lamborghini Concept S (ZHWGE32T86LA00001), the only fully-functional example built. The Concept S project began as a static display that was designed by Luc Donckerwolke, who is a Belgian automotive designer, who formerly served as head of design for Centro Stile Lamborghini. The Concept S was designed entirely around the Gallardo platform, however one of the most obvious and drastic differences between the Concept S and a standard Gallardo is the ‘spine’ that is set between the passenger and the driver. This not only divides the driver and passenger, but also acts as an extra air-inlet. The intention behind creating this car was to emulate the look of a classic single-seater racing car, and as you can see, ‘saute-vent’ (French for ‘jump wind’) windscreens are implemented into the design in place of a traditional windshield. Due to homologations, these separated windscreens were actually lowered quite a bit from the initial concept design that was shown at Geneva in 2005. The Concept S debuted only as a static model in 2005, but due to an increase in public interest, Lamborghini decided to invest more into the project and subsequently created a fully-functional example, which of course would be much more developed. There was even plans to put the Concept S into production as well, which never came to fruition. After realizing that each example would be far too time-consuming to produce (and also very costly), it was decided to produce only 100 examples for a select number of special clients, which never happened either. In 2006, this fully-functional example was shown for the first time during the Concorso Italiano. The original 2005 Geneva car is still with Lamborghini at their museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese, and for this car, it’s currently with @wearecurated (wearecurated.com) as just one car in their ever-evolving, and highly sophisticated inventory of vehicles offered for sale.
