One of the most unique and special projects to ever leave the Lamborghini headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. This is the 2008 Lamborghini Reventón LP650-4, an extremely limited production variant based on the platform of thesuccessful Lamborghini Murciélago LP640. In specific, the example shown here today is actually the first ever factory prototype, car number 00 of 20, chassis number 8LA02849, a true example of some of the worlds best automotive history. Although loosely based on the Murcielago, the Reventón clearly features some rather unique looking styling which takes inspiration from modern aeronautics and the fastest and most agile aircrafts in the world, such as the F-22 Raptor jet. So much inspiration in fact, that the entire design team was taken to the NATO military air field at the request of Lamborghini’s Director of Design, Manfred Fitzgerald, to get a closer look at the F-22 Raptor in person. The body of the car is constructed using carbon fiber composites and features an engine hood made of glass laminate that gives a glimpse of the monstrous V12 that powers this rare Italian machine. The color for this car is actually identical to the color painted on all other Revetòn coupes which is a specially produced greenish/grey that the designers appropriately named, ‘Reventòn’. The name Reventòn, like most other Lamborghini models, derives from a famous fighting bull. The word ‘Reventòn’ also translates to ‘small burst’, or ‘small explosion’ in Spanish. On the interior, you’ll find a combo of black leather and brown alcantara, as well as an aircraft-inspired cockpit featuring three thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal displays (TFT LCD), just like the ones that can be found on modern airplanes. The design of the Reventòn helped to create a basis for the companies next flagship V12 model, the Aventador. A roadster variant of the Reventòn was later released in 2009.
