The one-of-a-kind 2024 Monte Carlo Motorsport (MCM) CC133 Pista V8 GPL is easily one of the most extraordinary cars ever built in the modern era, a tribute to Carlo Chiti (December 19, 1924-July 7, 1994), the legendary Italian engineer. Chiti, known for his work as Ferrari’s Chief Engineer as well as his contributions towards Alfa Romeo and Automobili Turismo e Sport, collaborated with Fulvio Ballabio in 1983 to create Monte Carlo Automobile (MCA) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Automobile Club de Monaco. Guglielmo Bellasi, an F1 composite innovator, was another key individual that helped bring the project to life. The goal in mind then was to develop a car known as the Centenaire, eventually becoming the world’s first Gran Turismo car with an all-carbon fiber frame. After 5 years of work, the Centenaire debuted in 1989, followed by a V12 engine contract with Lamborghini in 1990. In 1993, businessman Alexander Mingrelia purchased MCA, rebranding it as the MiG-Tako M100 for a Le Mans venture. The car did not meet expectations, but it remained a unique creation. To celebrate the success of Chiti’s significant impact on the automotive industry as a whole, the talented group of engineers at MCM put together this race-focused machine known as the CC133 Pista V8 GPL. The modernized MCM CC133 Pista was presented at the “Carlo Chiti 100” event, held at the Automobile Club Milano headquarters, organized by MCM, Scuderia Sant Ambroeus, and the Alfa Racing Club. Conceived by Sami Vatanen, the car underwent 5 years of development and testing by MCM’s technical team, with contributions from drivers and testers like Teodoro Zuccoli, Henry Pescarolo, Arturo Merzario, and former Autodelta staff. Fulvio Ballabio, Chiti’s final driver, presented honors and awards during this event. The CC133 features a streamlined body inspired by the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, a 600hp 4.7-liter Alfa Romeo V8, and a stripped-out, race-oriented interior with a Sparco steering wheel and MCM badging throughout.
