1995 McLaren F1

1995 McLaren F1

This incredible car shown here is surely a model that you’ve seen or heard about many times before, a gorgeous example of a 1995 McLaren F1 (037), the 28th example developed out of the road going variants, specifically production examples. This McLaren F1 was originally delivered new to Germany where it was registered on K DX 3521 plates, however, since then, 037 has spent time in South Africa (TLZ713GP), the US (MCLRNF1), and finally it’s current location, the United Kingdom. The F1 model was conceived by South African-born British designer, Gordon Murray, and styled by one of UK's best-known vehicle designers, Peter Stevens. The F1 managed to set the Guinness World Record for being the fastest production car in the world, reaching a top speed of 240.1mph in the XP5 prototype on March 31st of 1998. To this day, the F1 remains to be the world’s fastest naturally aspirated production car. The F1 also features a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, a three-seat layout with a central driving position, and ‘butterfly’ or dihedral type doors. The F1 GTR, which is a racing variant of the F1, managed to achieve an overall victory at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. In specific, chassis 037 is special for a myriad of reasons. This car is believed to be the ONLY McLaren F1 with a full Alcantara interior from the factory. Despite reports of this car being painted in a color known as ‘Special Silver’, there is some belief that the color is actually just the base silver paint seen on a number of other F1 examples, although it’s not exactly clear who is right. What is certain, is that this example is one of a fraction of McLaren F1 examples that has remained in it’s original color combination, making it quite the impressive example overall.
