Shown here is the fascinating 2014 McLaren P1 GT (SBM12ABA7EW000079), number 3 of just 4 total GT examples built by Lanzante Limited out of around 448 total examples of the P1 model believed to have been built across all variants with prototypes included. The P1 was first ever introduced in September of 2012 and was designed by both Robert Melville (McLaren’s former design director) & American/British automobile designer Frank Stephenson. The P1 is considered one of the ‘holy trinity’ hypercars alongside both the LaFerrari & Porsche 918 Spyder. Before actual production, around 21 P1 prototypes were produced consisting of 13 XP cars (experimental prototypes), 5 VP cars (validation prototypes), and 3 PP cars (pre-production units). In addition to this, McLaren built 59 GTR versions, 6 LM versions, and 375 production road cars. This car originally started out as a ‘Volcano Red’ P1 but was later converted by @lanzantelimited to become the 3rd of 4 total P1 GT conversions built by the company. Post conversion, this example is now finished in a specification inspired by the McLaren F1 GT chassis 054’s original specification, and is shown here in black with a black leather/Alcantara and red Alcantara interior. The GT conversion includes stretched out “long tail” style bodywork, a larger rear wing, a quad exhaust system, and a number of other modifications. This GT is the only example of its kind to be sporting HDK Dymag Carbon wheels, and is pictured here by @nathanlovesbacon at the one and only @thequailevents! What do you think of this impressive Lanzante-converted McLaren P1?
