2019 McLaren Senna LM

2019 McLaren Senna LM

This is the 2019 McLaren Senna LM (chassis 82501), and to be specific, it’s the very first Senna LM example ever produced out of a 35-car total production run. The McLaren Senna (codenamed P15 Aina) was first introduced to the world in person at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The Senna was designed by English car designer and former Design Director at McLaren Automotive, Robert Melville. The car is named in honor of Brazilian Formula One race driver, Ayrton Senna, to celebrate his three Formula One World Drivers' Championship titles and thirty-five Formula One Grand Prix race wins. As for the Le Mans, or LM-spec McLaren Senna, chassis number 82501 is the first ever of it’s kind. The Senna LM was developed as a way to pay homage to to the McLaren F1 LM. The F1 LM is a limited production (6 cars including 1 prototype) track-oriented variant of the highly praised McLaren F1. This special version of the McLaren F1 was built specifically to honor the seven quintessential McLaren F1 GTRs that raced in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. The F1 GTRs that finished took first, third, fourth, fifth and thirteenth places overall in the famous Le Mans race. This example of the Senna LM is finished in an F1 LM-inspired McLaren Orange specification, which is a nod to the ‘Historic Orange’ used on the F1 LM that was inspired by the the Can-Am sports cars of the 1960's and the McLaren tartan colors. Chassis 82501 is reportedly 1 of 7 Senna LM examples finished in this special shade of Orange, which is also the only specification that deletes the lower door glass, which certainly gives off an interesting appearance. It’s also 1 of only 3 examples of the 35 total that is finished in right-hand drive configuration. Other enhancements included on the Senna LM consist of a more powerful engine (+25hp from standard), bespoke aerodynamically-enhanced bodywork, quad exhausts tipped in satin gold, and bespoke LM branding both interiorly and exteriorly.
