2020 McLaren 620R

2020 McLaren 620R

“A GT4 Race Car for the road” is how @mclaren describes this limited edition coupe, which is based on Mclaren’s most successful race car, the 570s GT4. This is Mclaren’s way of offering true motorsport credentials in a fully road-legal package. As you know, race cars are designed to meet strict racing restrictions and regulations, so, what would the 570s GT4 race car look like without all of its racing restrictions? Well kinda like this. This is the 2020 McLaren 620R, and it will be limited to just around 225 units, making it just as rare as it is over-the-top. This example is owned by @mfasyed, and wears chassis number 044. This car shown here is the ONLY 620R finished with MSO body color ‘Vermillion Red’, and the standard color options for this car were black, white or orange. As you may expect with any Mclaren automobile, the the 620R has some serious performance numbers. The 620R will do 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds thanks to the familiar 3.8 liter V8 engine that produces an increased 611HP, which is a 49HP increase from the standard 570s model. That’s not all that’s different however, on the inside of the car, you can find standard carbon fiber racing seats, with 6 point harnesses, carbon fiber shift paddles, and door pull straps. Mclaren really went all out to make you feel as though your racing on the track! The 620R was officially announced online in December of 2019, and is constructed on the same Monocell II carbon fibre monocoque chassis with the 570S GT4 race car. Each car will be built with a numbered plaque identifying which car you are driving of the 225 that will be produced, and interestingly there is an integrated third brake light found on the wing of the car which is simply there to to make the car road legal. The 620R is also reportedly the company’s most powerful sport series model ever produced thus far.

How many made? 350 were planned for production, however, due to the pandemic, only 225 were produced, and only 25 with the GTR livery shown here.
