2020 McLaren Speedtail

2020 McLaren Speedtail

In particular, this 2020 McLaren Speedtail shown here is chassis 101 of just 106 total units planned for production for the entire world (SMB23GDG2LW403101). This particular Speedtail was specially designed in collaboration with Paris-based prestigious leather maker, Berluti, and featured a specially fitted interior created specifically for this car, amongst a number of other stylistic changes and touches. The car was originally finished in a Silver-looking paint finish from the factory, along with it’s custom tailored Berluti leather interior, however, it’s shown here wearing a red-color wrapped livery for an event known as @cash_and_rocket, which was founded by Julie Brangstrup in 2011 with a goal of developing a strong community of powerful women who all shared the same goal of striving for equality through education. Annually, 80 international women convoy in 40 red cars to demonstrate a symbol of strength and solidarity among women, and this Speedtail is one of those red cars. The Speedtail was first ever announced on October 26, 2018 as a very special limited production hybrid hypercar, and features the notable three-seat design, which McLaren made popular with their legendary F1. A common misconception about the Speedtail is the wheel covers set on the front wheels being permanent. These are removable carbon fiber static covers that are there to further reduce drag, and considering the Speedtail was built with the intent to achieve very high top speed numbers, it’s a design element that makes total sense. One other extremely interesting design feature are the hydraulically actuated active rear aerodynamic control surfaces, which are built using flexible carbon fiber, and are intergrated into the rear clamshell of the car.
