1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Spyder

1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Spyder

This is the 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Spyder, finished in the stunning Martinique Yellow Pearl Metallic over an Ivory Leather interior. Originally unveiled in Japan in August 1993, these rare Spyders didn’t make their way to the U.S. until 1995. With only 1,034 total 3000GT Spyders ever produced, they remain among the rarest Mitsubishis ever built. The 3000GT VR-4 model as a whole is a remarkable front-engine all-wheel drive sports car that falls under the Mitsubishi GTO/3000GT family, which is a series of sports cars produced by Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Mitsubishi Motors. The Mitsubishi 3000GT was marketed as the GTO for the Japanese domestic market, and globally as the 3000GT. For the North American market, the 3000GT was sold both as the Dodge Stealth (1991–1996), and the Mitsubishi 3000GT (1991–1999). The stealth was and is another very unique car, as it was a collaboration between both Chrysler and Mitsubishi at the time, which resulted in a very unprecedented design for a Dodge-badged car at the time. It’s important to note that the 3000GT VR-4 is not only just a beautiful and satisfyingly quick sports car for the time period, but it’s also quite rare. Available in two trims—Spyder SL (430 units) and Spyder VR-4 (604 units), the key difference lies in performance. Both feature a V6 engine, but the VR-4 boasts a 3.1L twin-turbocharged V6 pushing out an impressive 320 horsepower. Of the 1,034 Spyders produced between 1995 and 1996, only 13 total VR-4s were finished in Martinique Yellow Pearl Metallic—making this one an exceptionally rare find. Fortunately, we were able to get our hands on this one for our YouTube channel (YouTube.com/ammediany)! One of the most unique design features of the 3000GT Spyder is its hardtop retractable roof, a rarity in convertible engineering. In fact, it was the first retractable hardtop convertible sold in the U.S. since the iconic Ford Fairlane Skyliner! Despite its innovation, slow sales led to the model’s discontinuation in 1997, cementing its status as a sought-after collector’s car today.
