This is the 1993 MTX Tatra V8 (004), a mysterious fourth MTX, likely developed alongside car 003, delivered as a bare kit to a US customer, long shrouded in speculation until Josef Kasperkevic of @tatraheritage confirmed its existence and surprisingly well-preserved condition. The MTX Tatra V8 was styled by Czech automobile designer Václav Král. Only three prototypes were ever fully constructed between 1991 and 1993, equipped with air-cooled V8 engines and unique features like slanted doors and folding headlights. A factory fire, lack of funding and other factors ultimately forever terminated high-volume manufacturing of the MTX Tatra V8. Recently revealed this year, the fourth unfinished prototype originally, a self assembly kit without suspension, engine, or most mechanical parts. This example was originally sold to a United States buyer who planned to install an American V8, however, the car never made it to the United States, was instead discovered decades later in Switzerland by @tatraheritage, hidden in Germany for 20 years, and finally acquired in 2023 by @house_ot._classics_pl from Warsaw. The last piece was sold unfinished by the manufacturer as a bare steel tube frame with rear axle arms from a Tatra 613, a laminated body with wheel chassis, pop-up doors, full glazing, dashboard matching the third prototype, likely original floors and interior panels, and preserved accessories including the fuel tank, headlight covers, taillights, front and side sockets, wiper arm, pedal group, door gaskets, spare bases, and cut-out parts stored in the cabin. The project is most likely set to be completed in the near future.
