1999-02 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec

1999-02 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec

This is the 1999-02 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (BNR34-002349) finished in a very special paint shade known as ‘Midnight Purple II’ LV4 (MNPII), 1 of just a believed 282 total in that shade for the entire world of it’s kind. The first ever Nissan cars to be produced using the ‘Skyline GT-R’ naming convention were sold from 1969-1972 and were successful in a number of Japanese touring car racing events. In the late 1980’s, Nissan brought back the GT-R name under the BNR32 (R32) Skyline GT-R. Interestingly, the ‘Skyline’ name dates back much further than the GT-R name, with the first ‘Skyline’ cars being produced by Japanese automobile manufacturer, Prince Motor Company in 1957, and then by Nissan after the two companies merged in 1967. The original design and engineering oof the Skyline can be credited to Japanese engineer, Shinichiro Sakurai, who remained involved in the car’s history until his passing in 2011. Believe it or not, this model has seen a total of 13 different generations spanning from 1957 to current day, and within those generations, an endless amount of specific variants and more. The car we have shown here is unmistakably a tenth-generation (R34), and is 1 of approximately 64,623 Skyline cars built under this generation from 1998 until 2005. Japanese automotive engineer Kozo Watanabe was responsible for the design and development of the ninth and tenth generations of the Nissan Skyline model. The tenth-generation (R34) could be ordered with either a 2.0 L RB20DE I6, a 2.5 L RB25DE I6, a 2.5 L RB25DET turbo I6 or a 2.6 L RB26DETT twin-turbo I6. The Skyline ‘GT-R’ made a re-appearance in 1999, and was followed up by a myriad of model variants. The V-Spec GT-R received new aerodynamics, brake ventilation ducts, a new diffuser, ALSD, and much more.
