This is the ‘Giallo Ginevra I’ 2000 Pagani Zonda S (76014). This Zonda was the example that was on display during the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, finished in the eye-catching combination of Geneva Yellow I over a Blue and Beige leather interior, which it still the same specification it’s in today. This Zonda S is 1 of just 16 of it’s kind built for the world, and also one of the earliest cars to come off the production line. The story of the Zonda model begins in the mid to late 1990s, with the first appearance of a Zonda taking place during the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. The Zonda was originally set to be named the ‘Fangio F1’ after Formula One champion Juan Manuel Fangio, but it was later decided the car would be named Zonda after the hot air current above Argentina, where founded of Pagani, Horacio Pagani was born. Chassis 76014 was imported into the US in the early 2000s, but due to the importation not being entirely legal, the car was reportedly seized by customs in 2003, and was sent back to Pagani in Italy as a consequence. While the car was sent back, the owner allegedly was able to retain ownership of the car. During it’s time back in Italy, chassis 76014 made appearances at various events around Europe, and was also experimented with slightly, with a S 7.3 rear clam being added, which is still equipped to this day, as well as having a Roadster S steering wheel and Roadster S wheels for some time. In 2006, the car was supposedly brought back to the US under the implications that it would be used as a test bed car for a battery company. From here, speculation and reports state that the car sat with no engine for a period of time, and possibly even had an electric drivetrain at one point in order to comply with regulations. By 2020, the car received a full restoration, this time, with the 7.0L Mercedes-Benz M120 V12 back in place, and it’s on the road today cruising the streets of the United States. A true happy ending to a great story!
