1931 Pierce-Arrow Model 41 Convertible Victoria by LeBaron

1931 Pierce-Arrow Model 41 Convertible Victoria by LeBaron

This incredible car shown here, sold by @rmsothebys during the Hershey 2022 auction is a 1931 Pierce-Arrow Model 41 Convertible Victoria by LeBaron, a sole-survivor of it’s kind, and also an example that is believed to be on display during the 1931 New York Auto Show. This magnificent automobile wears chassis number 3050235, and is equipped with engine number 325760, and body number 157-3. If you haven’t heard of Pierce-Arrow, the Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company was an American motor vehicle manufacturer that was active from 1901 until 1938, where they produced a number of luxury automobiles, plus a variety of other things such as commercial trucks, fire trucks, camp trailers, motorcycles, and even bicycles as well. In the year 1931, Pierce-Arrow’s model 41 was considered to be the company’s “top of the line” model, and was also thought to have one of America’s most powerful engines equipped at the time, the 132-horsepower inline-eight. Among the most refined yet athletic designs ever to grace a Pierce-Arrow chassis, the Convertible Victoria stands as a testament to LeBaron’s craftsmanship. This particular Convertible Victoria is not only among the rare few built in this striking configuration but is also believed to be the sole surviving example of its kind, a remarkable relic of bespoke American luxury. Remarkably, this Pierce-Arrow has been paired once again with a period-correct Model 41 engine, obtained through esteemed Pierce-Arrow Society member Glenn Perkins. Identified by engine number 325760, this unit is strongly believed to be the very one fitted by the factory when the car was first assembled, further solidifying its originality and historical significance.

How many made? LeBaron produced only around 25 custom bodies (approximately 13 survive) in various styles for Pierce-Arrow with this being a sole survivor of its kind
