This is the extremely unique 1973 Plymouth Cuda owned by @theforgottencuda, and believe it or not, due to this cars completely unique options list, it’s believed to be a true 1 of 1! The Barracuda model was manufactured by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1964 until 1974 across three different generations, and a number of different unique variants and options that became available throughout the cars development. One of those variants was the Cuda, which was introduced in 1969 as a more performance-oriented alternative to the Barracuda at the time. Many people mistake the ‘Cuda’ name as a nickname for the Barrucuda, however, it’s important to note that they are two entirely different things. As for this specific 1973 Cuda shown here, based on months of research from both @theforgottencuda and myself, it’s safe to say their aren’t any other Cudas exactly like this one in the entire world, and we’ll explain why. This third-generation (1970-1974) Cuda is powered by it’s numbers matching 340 cu in (5.6 L) LA V8, and was originally painted from the factory in a color known as GK6 ‘Autumn Bronze Metallic’ with white striping. One extremely rare, and uncommon feature found on this car is the fact that it’s equipped with the fully synchronized 3-speed transmission, which only a reported 289 examples equipped with the 340 engine were factory-built that way. Narrowing down the rarity of this special Cuda even further leads you to find that this example is also equipped with the inside hood release option, rally gauges, power steering, AM/FM radio, and a number of other options and features that go on to make this car truly unique. Notably, this Cuda example was produced on January 23rd of 1973, the same day that President Nixon announced a peace agreement which would ultimately go on to end the Vietnam war.
How many made? 9,305 Cudas built in 1973, 1 of 6,583 340 Cudas built in 1973, 1 of 289 3-speed 340 Cudas, 1 of 1 with the full option list
