This car shown here is the unbelievably rare 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo finished in the hardly seen paint shade of ‘Coppoflorio Blue’. Coppoflorio Blue, which is also sometimes referred to as ‘Ice Blue’ or ‘Polar Blue’, is one of the rarest colors ever made by Porsche, and is said to have been offered for one year only. This car shown here is believed to be 1 of just 2 in the world of it’s kind finished in this color. The color is named after the Coppa Florio (Florio Cup), which is a car race that has been held since 1900 and is named after the Sicilian entrepreneur, Vincenzo Florio. This example is part of the 930-generation of the Porsche 911, which was built from 1975 until 1989. At the time of the 930s introduction, it was the fastest production car available in Germany. The 930 was the top-of-the-line 911 model throughout the entire duration of it’s production. Development of a turbocharged 911 began in 1972, with the 930 making it’s official debut at the 1974 Paris Auto Show, at the time, simply badged as the “Turbo” (early US modes were badged as “Turbo Carrera”). The 930 was and still is an absolutely fantastic car, and this example shown here is a perfect representation of a truly unique, and very rare specification. Porsche’s 911 Turbo allowed customers to access race-worthy performance while out driving on public roads, and the voluptuous fenders and ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler only emphasizes this cars presence.
