This is a car you almost never come across, a 2012 Porsche Boxster Spyder (987), one of just around 1,900 examples built of its kind from 2011 until 2012. This is 1 of approximately 750 total examples which made it to the United States, and 1 of just around 142 total US cars built in 2012. After making its initial debut during the Los Angeles Motor Show in the year 2009, Porsche revealed that they would be creating the lightest ever model throughout the entire range of Porsche vehicles available at the time. This light mid-engined roadster weighs in at just around 2,811lbs, and perhaps the easiest way to distinguish this car from pretty much any other Porsche on the road, is the 13-pound manually-operated canvas top. This roof, which is clearly not what you would expect to see on a Boxster model, is very much different from a conventional convertible-top mechanism, and yet, the top can be fully concealed in harsh weather conditions. The roof allows for an open-air driving sensation, which is emphasized by the way of a 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine with a power output of around 320bhp. The Boxster family as a whole harkens back to the 1953 550 Spyder, also known as the first sports car from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen which had been developed for racing but also homologated for road-use. This particular Boxster Spyder, 745180, is finished in a color known as ‘Carrara White’ over a black leather interior with a body-color painted center console. Some of the options on this particular example include the Sound Package Plus, Automatic Climate Control, RS-style door pulls, red seatbelts, 19” lightweight wheels with Yokohama Advan Apex V601 tires, roll bars, bi-xenon headlights and much, much more! This example was officially developed in May of 2011, and it’s shown here today still in absolutely spectacular condition both inside and out!
