2025 Porsche 963 RSP

2025 Porsche 963 RSP

This is the world’s only 2025 Porsche 963 RSP, a road-legal version of Porsche’s LMDh sports prototype race car developed by Porsche and manufactured by Multimatic, the Porsche 963 (Type 9R0). The Porsche 963 was unveiled at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was developed to compete in the Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the GTP (Grand Touring Prototype) class of the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Key figures in the project included Grant Larson (Director of Special Projects, Style Porsche), Stéphane Lenglin (Exterior Designer), Christian Eifrig (Technical Project Manager), and Stefan Moser (Head Engineer, Powertrain). The Porsche 963 made its debut at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona, securing its first win at the 2023 Grand Prix of Long Beach. Its last competitive appearance was at the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic. This street version of the 963 shown here was developed for American auto racing team owner, businessman, and former professional driver Roger Searle Penske (RSP). The 963 RSP retains the race-spec hybrid V8 powertrain and Xtrac seven-speed sequential gearbox, though both received key refinements for road use. The rear-mounted electric motor and generator were reprogrammed for smoother power delivery, and the twin-turbo 4.6L V8 was adapted to run on regular pump fuel. While not fully homologated, the car has been granted conditional approval by French authorities for limited road use under specific local regulations. Its design, shaped by Porsche AG, Penske Motorsport, and Porsche Cars North America, pays tribute to the legendary 917 that famously drove from Zuffenhausen to Paris in 1975. Inside, the cockpit stuns with a hand-trimmed carbon seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a custom laptop and headset panel, and a removable cup holder, all accented by 917-inspired details like 3D-printed vents and a chassis plaque.
