Dont expect to see this car at your next local show...why? Because only one of them was ever produced, and it carries an extremely unique story along with it! This is the fully-functional and street-legal 1999 Savannah College of Art and Design EXO Spyder. This unique creation was developed on a modified Pontiac Fiero chassis at the Savannah College of Art and Design, located in Savannah, Georgia. The project was lead by former graduate student and chief designer, Ed Bigda, along with a team of 42 students across nine different college departments as part of the school’s industrial design program’s working prototype department. The project took around nine months to complete and the EXO Spyder was clearly designed to capture as much attention as possible. This open-cabin roadster is actually the first ever full-scale functional prototype vehicle developed by the Savannah College of Art and Design. Additionally, the program has since taken on a number of diverse projects such as the development of a 21' concept boat, an all-terrain vehicle, and a hang glider. The very unique EXO Spyder concept, which started simply as a drawing, then a foam model, was quickly turned into an absolute dream car, featuring one of the most unique door designs of all time, and a fully functional interior boasting yellow, blue and grey leather. If you’re wondering how the EXO Spyder concept drives, you can ask world-renowned designer and founder of Pagani Automobili, Horacio Pagani, who visited the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2003, where he test drove the EXO Spyder, and displayed his own work of art, the Zonda C12 S.
