To honor the great Italian car designer, Marcello Gandini, today we will discuss this masterpiece shown here, the 2005 S86 Diamante by Italian automotive company, Stola. In order to showcase their talents as a skilled coach builder, Stola developed this project in just 5 weeks before its grand reveal at the 75th Geneva Motor Show in the year 2005. The Stola S86 Diamante stands as a dazzling testament to the Italian marque’s unrivaled mastery in crafting swift, bespoke engineering marvels. The S86, which is owned by @stola_s86_diamante, is a static display model, meaning there is now powertrain, however, that doesn’t undermine the efforts that were made by Gandini in order to create a totally unique, and striking design to have on display in Geneva. The S86 Diamante is far more than your average design study or concept vehicle—it serves as a compelling embodiment of Stola’s bespoke engineering philosophy called “Tailor Made Engineering”, showcasing the company’s ability to guide a project from early conceptual validation, all while delivering personalized technical solutions with exceptional agility, streamlined development costs, and maximum market competitiveness, fully tailored to align with each client’s specifications, tools, and operational processes. The name, S86, represents 86 years of the Stola company, which was first founded in Turin, Italy in the year 1919. After its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the Stola S86 Diamante was showcased once more at the Essen Motor Show in December 2005. Following that appearance, the car spent the next 19 years stored under cover in the Stola facility. It was eventually acquired by a private collector from Rome and, in October 2024, made a highly anticipated return to the public eye at the vintage car and motorcycle fair in Bologna, Italy. The Stola S86 Diamante stands as one of the final expressions of automotive artistry from the legendary Marcello Gandini, the visionary designer behind icons such as the Lamborghini Countach.
