1997 Suzuki C2

1997 Suzuki C2

This rather promising and well-proportioned two seater sports car that you may have never seen or heard of ever before is known as the very unique 1997 Suzuki C2! The Suzuki C2, despite being created in the late 1990’s, can easily compete with some of today’s sports cars in terms of it’s styling. The roof system in the car allowed for the option of having a fully enclosed roof, a fully removed convertible look, or with the simple removal of the center panel, a targa style top. The car evokes a simplistic form overall, and to power this unique creation, Suzuki included a 1.6L twin-turbo V8 engine which was capable of producing around 250 horsepower at 4,000 rpm. The C2 was said to have weighed only around 1869 total pounds, however, neither the car itself, nor the engine used for the car never arrived into a Suzuki showroom, and the car remained simply a prototype. The car followed and developed the basic idea of the Suzuki ‘Cappuccino’ model, which was produced by Suzuki from 1991 until 1998. The 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show was filled with a number of unique prototypes and concept cars, however, the C2 truly demonstrated a near-perfect combination of lightweight, compactness, and performance, especially for the era. A rather appealing vehicle to see, and one that certainly makes you wonder where it might be lurking today! What do you think of this unique V8-powered lightweight Suzuki prototype vehicle?
