2000 TVR Tuscan 4.0

This car shown here is a brilliant ‘Reflex Purple’ 2000 TVR Tuscan 4.0 photographed by @carguy.ryan and owned by @azfdrx7. In the United States, it’s believed there are only 2 examples of its kind, and of that number, this is the second example to be brought in under the 25-year import law. TVR is a British automotive manufacturer of sports cars that was founded in 1946 initially as ‘Trevcar Motors’. A man named Trevor Wilkinson was the founder of this company, and at first, Trevcar Motors would start their career doing basic engineering work, that wasn’t always automotive related. One year later in 1947, an auto enthusiast named Jack Pickard joined the company, and following this, the company was subsequently renamed to TVR Engineering. Two years later, in 1949, the company would produce their first ever chassis, TVR One, and ever since then, TVR has gone on to produce some extremely unique cars. This spectacular car features a 4.0 L (3,996 cc) Speed Six I6 engine developed by British automobile engineer Alwyn “Al” Melling. The 1999 MK1 Tuscan featured exterior design was created by Damian McTaggart and interior by Paul Daintree, while the 2004 MK2 Tuscan was styled externally by Grahame Browne with interior design work by Martin Smith. TVR first unveiled the Tuscan Speed Six at the 1998 British Motor Show, with production officially starting in March 2000. The TVR Tuscan is a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car which was available as a 2-door targa top or convertible and was built on a tubular steel chassis with a fiberglass body. Named after the original 1967–1971 Tuscan, it featured TVR’s inline-six Speed Six engine in 3.6L, 4.0L, and 4.2L variants, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. In 2005, the Tuscan Speed Six became the ‘Tuscan 2’ or ‘Mk 2’, with updated styling and revised suspension for improved road manners.
