1992 Vector W8

1992 Vector W8

This is the 1992 Vector W8 Twin Turbo (chassis 012), the only W8 example to be finished in this wonderful shade of yellow shown here. The W8 utilizes a semi-aluminum monocoque chassis with a body made largely of lightweight carbon fiber and Kevlar, a 6.0 L twin-turbocharged transversely mounted Rodeck V8, a modified Turbo-Hydramatic 425 General Motors three-speed automatic, a futuristic interior with eye-catching instrumentation more! The Vector Motors Corporation was first founded in 1971 by American automotive engineer and businessman, Gerald Wiegert, where it was then simply a design house called Vehicle Design Force. Later on, the company name was changed to Vector Aeromotive, and subsequently, a number of wedge-shape cars would begin production across multiple different variants. While the car was designed by chief designer, Gerald Wiegert, the fine touches and refinements were handled by Vector’s head of engineering, David Kostka. Throughout production, the W8 cars received subtle changes along the way, ensuring that no two cars would be alike. Elements such as the elimination of gills, rear wing adjustments and more were just some of the ways Vector W8s changed over the years. A total of 19 Vector W8 cars were built over the years, typically, with refinements and improvements taking place over time. This is the W8 production in order: PP1, PP2, 001 (grey), 002 (grey), 008 (black), 005 (black), 013 (grey), 009 (purple), 006 (black), 007 (dark blue), 008 (white), 013 (special black), 003 (red), 015 (white), 011 (red), 012 (yellow), 017 (black), 016 (silver), 018 (green). The W8 is simply one of the most interesting American supercars ever created, and the story of both the cars, and the company itself is constantly evolving. What do you think of the Vector W8?
