This is the extremely rare 1983 Zender Vision 1! In the year 1969, a man named Hans-Albert Zender founded a sole proprietorship under the name of ‘HAZ’ when he was only 23 years of age. Early in his career, Mr. Zender was customizing car interiors in a small garage located in Bassenheim, Germany. In 1974, the name ‘Zender’ appeared as a replacement for the original name. Zender soon expanded even further, now producing other components such as rear wings, fenders, and other various automotive parts. Ford became an early customer of Zender, and Volkswagen as well in 1975. After having some success in the automotive industry, it was time for Zender to create his own vision of a dream car. In 1979 Zender moved facilities to Mülheim-Kärlich, Germany, and by 1983, Zender would have presented their first ever design study, the futuristic Vision 1. Just one year later, in 1984, Hans Albert Zender Exklusiv-Auto was founded with the main focus now being production of unique automobiles. In total, six full-sized ‘Vision’ concept cars were created, with this car, the 1983 Vision 1 being the first project in the lineup (1, 1S, 2, 3, 3C). The Zender Vision 1 started began it’s life in 1983, where it was unveiled as Zender’s first ever full-sized concept, the Zender Vision 1 (red at the time). Zender displayed this car and demonstrated a beautiful 2+2 design that would be based on the platform of the Audi Quattro. The Zender Vision 1 was reportedly not entirely functional just yet at the time of it’s debut, but just one year later, in 1984, Zender would debut a further enhanced variation of this model, and rename the vehicle to become the Vision 1S. Zender worked with a talented designer by the name of Günther Zillner to create the Vision 1/1S project, and the team created a machine that unlike it’s original concept counterpart, was now fully operational, with the same beautiful styling as before.
